Watch to nurture…….
Daisy Jones and the Six I love this story. I love these actors. I love the visuals. I also love a fiery, passionate, somewhat toxic relationship. Whoops. It reminds me of the type of show I would obsess over in high school. I didn’t get around to reading the book yet, but it is now on my list. Highly recommend for an enjoyable watch.
The Elephant Whisperers This short really moved me- in typical fashion, tears were shed. It is about a family living in sync with nature as they rescue two baby elephant calves. The connection between elephant and human is deep; one that reminds me of my own connection with my beloved dog. The imagery is striking, the storytelling is poignant, and the love is real.
Lizzy McAlpine Tiny Desk Concert I have loved and always will love sad girl music. It’s just in my bones. I love to over-relate to every nuanced lyric and feel the pain of slow harmonies in my veins. If you don’t already know her, Lizzy McAlpine is the current sad girl it girl. I put this on in the background whilst writing and found it to be great creative juice.

All of Shakespeare's Plays Are About Race by Daniel Pollack-Pelzner This article discusses a series of essays coming out of UCLA that argues Shakespeare’s plays were critical in the creation of whiteness as we know it today. The idea that we even associate the terminology of “race” with people of color implies that we have accepted whiteness as the norm, a position edified by Shakespeare’s place in the canon. I love Shakespeare as both a director and a teacher, however, I also believe that it is important to look at his work with a critical lens.
A World Without Men by Anna Louie Sussman There is a movement in South Korea right now known as the 4B movement, Daegu, a feminist movement where women reject heterosexual marriage, childbirth, dating, and heterosexual sexual encounters. Stemming from a series of sexist court rulings, a rigid adherence to patriarchal beauty standards, and a culture rooted in deference to men; the movement and commitment is gaining traction with a small number of women in South Korea. It was an interesting read, where an enclave of women are seeking autonomy from the grasps of patriarchy in their own ways. I’m intrigued by the idea of it all but unclear of its effectiveness. Patriarchy as the problem and therefore, rejecting its allure through isolation.
The Empowerment Cliff: Why Girl Power Isn't Working for Women by Stefanie O’Connel Rodriguez This article names a thing I’ve been feeling for a while- the expectation in this culture is that we raise girls to do and be anything, but then we chop their ambition and drive when it comes to heterosexual marriage and childrearing. It’s interesting, because it feels as though we have piled all of the masculine markers of success on top of women who are also expected to be excellent mothers, in incredible shape, with clean homes and magnificent wardrobes. It’s too much for one person, so the question now is, how do we reframe this narrative?
How To Feel Alive Again by Christina Coran Katherine May’s book Wintering is one that I have recommended previously on Good Seeds. It’s a treatise on cyclical and seasonal living. This NYT article uncovers the background to Katherine’s writing and how simplicity and ease are the driving fores to her understanding of the world.
Into The Magic Shop:A Neurosurgeon's Quest to Discover the Mysteries of the Brain and the Secrets of the Heart by James R Doty I love when science and spirituality support one another. This book, an exploration into how the mind works from the perceptive of a neurosurgeon, also ties in the importance of the heart and spirit in bringing our ideas into reality. Its filled with anecdotes, data, and enough spiritual self-help for most of us; I found the story of opening one’s heart combined with willpower one that I go back to. New age guru’s call it “manifestation”, but what we are really talking about here is following the intuitive guidance of your soul and then making an action plan to enact those dreams.

Spring Equinox Playlist Playlists are my love language and as much as I like curating a sonic vibe, I really LOVE when someone else has done this for me. While this playlist wasn’t exactly designed for me, per se, it feels like it was. 3rd ritual really got it right. Its the perfect jazzy blend of sunshine and crocus buds bursting through the thirsty soil. I’ve been rocking out to it all week.
Moun D'Simone Gratitude Practice I love the sound of Moun’s voice in this meditation. Its simple, yet profound. I keep coming back to this guidance when my own practice is not enough. I invite you to give it a try- its only about 12 minutes!

Clean Ocean Action On the Jersey shore, there have been a series of beached whales and dolphins due to the newly mounted wind turbines off of the Atlantic coast. These turbines disrupt feeding patterns and therefore confuse whales and dolphins, inducing starvation and rupturing their migrational patterns. Clean Ocean Action is a local NJ organization determined to help the ocean life and keep the NJ beaches clean. I have been donating to them for a while, and invite you to do the same if you are able.
