Good Seedlets #14

Watch to nurture…….

  • Laufey: Tiny Desk Concert Interestingly enough, my students introduced me to Laufey before I could find her on my daily Spotify hunts. Her voice transcends time. This is lovely and sweet and awe-inspiring and perfect to have on in the background as you get things done.

  • School Spirits I’m kind of obsessed with this show and didn’t think I would be. It's a murder mystery where a student is killed in her high school and she has to solve her own murder with the help of both alive and deceased friends. It’s thrilling. It’s exciting. It’s good fun. Easy to binge on a winter weekend.

  • Olivia Rodrigo: Tiny Desk Concert I need to remember that this kid is like 18. Her lyrics, energy, and overall attitude resonate with this geriatric millennial. How wonderful is it to feel seen through music?

  • The Dragon Prince  This show offers a captivating and richly developed fantasy world filled with magic, mythical creatures, and complex characters. The series, created by the co-creator of "Avatar: The Last Airbender," boasts a compelling narrative that seamlessly weaves together themes of friendship, adventure, and the struggle between good and evil. With its stunning animation, diverse representation, and a storyline that evolves with surprising twists, it’s an easy choice.

  • boygenius- You're Still The One - There is nothing like the harmonious blend of these voices; they seep into you, haunt your dreams, and get caught amongst the webs of brain matter.  In this BBC recording, they offer a new spin on a classic love song, making me question what I thought I knew about the lyrics. I’ve already listened to this on loop like 100 times.

 Read to root…….

  • Let Your Kids Be Bad At Things by Heather Havrilesky is a refreshing and insightful exploration of parenting that encourages a healthy embrace of imperfection, fostering resilience and growth in children. Through her candid and witty writing, Havrilesky provides a reassuring perspective on the challenges of modern parenting, offering valuable advice on how allowing kids to struggle and fail ultimately contributes to their development into “well-rounded individuals."

  • Once and Future Witches by Alix E. Harrow is a spellbinding novel that blends feminism, magic, and historical fiction, like a spell,  immersing readers in a captivating world where three sisters challenge societal norms to reclaim their power, creating a mesmerizing tale that resonates with both enchantment and empowerment.

  • Overcome Your Need for Constant Validation at Work by Melody Wilding is an essential read for anyone seeking to cultivate a resilient and self-assured professional mindset, offering practical insights and strategies to break free from the cycle of seeking external approval and fostering genuine confidence and satisfaction within the workplace.

  • Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas. Everybody is reading this right now. For good reason. Okay- so, it doesn’t get good until like 60% of the way through. But, when it gets good, it goes there. The world-building is thorough. But, personally, I am more into the steamy romance.

  • Who's Afraid of Women's Pleasure?  By Hannah Giorgis The more we as a society can have conversations around women’s pleasure, the better the world will be. How can we continually challenge the patriarchal norms? Well, this is an interesting overview of what has happened and how we can learn from it.

  • Why Aren't More People Getting Married? Ask Women What It Is Like Dating Men by Anne Louie Sussman   I might have already shared this with you. LOL. There is a lot to unpack here, and perhaps I over-relate. Worth an investigation.

Listen to expand……

  • Skyline Drive  Mangesh, the host, is cynical about astrology. However, astrology is an important part of his family’s belief system. He goes on a journey to investigate astrology through a variety of perspectives.

  • Maintenance Phase   There is a lot of crap information floating out there in the wellness world. While I don’t always agree with the podcast’s approach, I think they do a good job at debunking the myths of wellness trends. This is an occasional listen.

  • Embodiment Practice Playlists I do love a good embodiment practice. I think it may be the most important tool that I have. This playlist is curated thoughtfully and works well with an at-home breathing and movement situation.
