Good Seedlets #6

Watch to nurture…….

  • How To Build A Sex Room Designed for Millenials: HGTV meets kink education meets an adorable British visionary. It is both spicy and heartwarming and the perfect binge.

  • Taylor Tomlinson: Quarter Life Crisis I know this was released in March, but this comedy special gave me much-needed light in what feels like an especially heavy and dark time. Laughter is medicine too.

  • Regina Spektor: Tiny Desk Concert I feel like I am fifteen again. Her voice transports me to magical moments in my youth, even with her new music. I smiled the whole way through. There really are no rules- thanks for the reminder, Regina.

  • The Mechanicals in Midsummer's Night Dream: Globe Theater I recently taught a Midsummer class and goddammit, this is comedic gold. The original Leslie Knope ice-skating disaster.

Follow to grow…..

  • @fyeahmfabello polyamorous feminist scholar who has made the decision to no longer commune with cis straight men. Fascinating journey.

  • @wellfedwomen If you are interested in pro-metabolic eating, this might be a place for you to start. They address the way that hormones influence life and provide ways to nourish yourself that best support hormonal success.

  • @dr.thema wisdom from a psychologist, minister, and thought leader. I appreciate her daily postings for personal development.

  • @useless_farm Karen the emu has become a fan favorite. I’m equally obsessed with the creativity of the account’s owner. Wigs and farm animals should be a more common occurrence.

Read to root…….

  • all about love: The main book that has inspired my personal study this summer. Worth every moment.

  • Waking the Witch: Reflections on women, magic, and power: This book is a contextual analysis of the figure and trope of ‘the witch’ as viewed through the various lenses of culture. The writing also contains elements of memoir through Grossman’s journey from teen goth to a leading authority on modern paganism.

  • Into The Magic Shop: This book was recommended to me by one of my energy healers during the heat of my own self-doubt. Our minds are more powerful than we know and this book was a beautiful reminder of that reality.

  • Happiness: A Guide to developing life's most important skills: This is a Buddhist monk’s perspective on the ideals and concept of happiness. It provided a tremendous understanding of our natural desire to pursue happiness and how it can actually be achieved.

Listen to expand……

  • How To Survive the End of The World: Coincidentally, this current season is all about love. I stumbled upon this during my research and couldn’t have been happier. The Brown sisters are warm, inquisitive, and profound. They sing, laugh, and get deeply personal. I have already learned so much from them and can’t wait to continue listening to this season as they explore the many facets of love in our lives.

  • Sovereignty Song The Bengsons: In the wake of the overturning of Roe, the Bengsons rereleased this song about body sovereignty. It moved me to tears during my first listen. You may find yourself humming it in unexpected places. Sing it as you move through these times.

  • On Being: What if we get it right? Dr. Ayanna Elizabeth Johnson is a marine biologist who asks the poignant question, what if we get this right? This conversation about environmental conservation and ocean action is fascinating. Dr. Johnson’s brand of radical imagination is one I am deeply interested in pursuing further in aspects of my life against the backdrop of a crumbling reality..

  • Morning Meditations with Marianne Williamson The next few weeks might throw us off our rockers- if you can imagine any more tumult, it's written in the stars- therefore, it is as important as ever to stay grounded and connected to your heart. Marianne Williamson, beloved spiritual teacher, and thought-leader offers these free meditations that I strongly recommend you start your day with. My favorite begins with the mantra, “ May I not lose sight of love today.”

Support if you can….

  • Access Reproductive Care: Southeast Supports southerners in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina, and Tennessee by providing funding and logistical support to ensure safe reproductive care, including abortion services.

  • The Aifaya Center is based in North Texas and was founded and directed by Black women. This center provides women with programs and resources for reproductive justice, HIV, abortion access education, and maternal mortality.
